League 2: Dagenham & Redbridge 1-3 Southend

Southend moved three points from the automatic promotion places with a deserved win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

The visitors took the lead when Joe Pigott traded passes with Ben Coker before firing past Liam O’Brien.

Dagenham levelled through Ayo Obileye’s header from Billy Bingham’s free-kick but Ryan Leonard volleyed in from 35 yards to re-take the lead.

Damian Batt handled in the area and Barry Corr stepped up to convert the resulting penalty to secure the win.

League 2: Cambridge 1-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

Dagenham & Redbridge climbed out of the League Two relegation zone with a point at mid-table Cambridge United.

The U’s took the lead when Ryan Donaldson’s corner was flicked on by Michael Nelson for Cameron McGeehan to stroke home from close range.

Dagenham’s equaliser also came from a set-piece as Andre Boucaud’s free-kick was met by the head of Ashley Hemmings.

Cambridge, playing their first game since Friday’s FA Cup draw with Manchester United, move up to 12th.

Richard Money’s side are now eight points off the play-off places, with at least a game in hand on teams above them.

League 2: Southend 0-0 Dagenham

Ten-man Southend picked up their second successive goalless draw at Roots Hall as Dagenham slipped into the League Two relegation zone.

The visitors looked to have taken the lead when Shrimpers defender John White put the ball into his own net, but it was disallowed for offside.

Southend then went close through Jack Payne and Barry Corr, before the Daggers’ saw a second shot ruled out.

Cian Bolger then saw red for violent conduct with 20 minutes remaining.

The Irishman was penalised for a foul on visiting goalkeeper Mark Cousins, before referee Gavin Ward brandished a straight red card to Bolger for an incident involving Joss Labadie.

Phil Brown’s side have now not conceded at home in League Two for 379 minutes, while Dagenham fall to 23rd after Tranmere’s victory at home to Northampton.
